My sister, Lynne Smith, entered Grade 10 in DHS when it first opened, having been at Lachine HS for Grades 8 & 9. She was part of DHS' first graduating class in '68. After a year at McGill University, she went to Edmonton and completed a 2-year Christian Education diploma at the North American Baptist College. She married Rev. Don Anderson (a United Church of Canada minister who also grew up in Dorval and who attended Lachine HS) and they had two sons. At the time of her death, Lynne also had a 3-year-old granddaughter.
Lynne had had a successful battle against breast cancer about 10 years ago, but then had been suffering from deteriorating health over the past couple of years. She died from metastasized rectal cancer in a hospice in Renfrew, Ontario, about 2 weeks before what would have been her 58th birthday. We will miss her. May she rest in peace. |
